What is paintless
dent repair?

PDR is the art of restoring dented metal without ever touching the paint — no body filler, no repainting, no compromise to your vehicle's factory finish.

How it works

Precision from the inside out.

Paintless dent repair works by accessing the back side of a damaged panel — through door jambs, window openings, or by removing trim — and using specialized metal rods and tools to carefully massage the dented metal back to its original shape. The process is slow, methodical, and requires a trained eye.

Technicians work under professional PDR lighting boards that cast precise reflections across the panel surface. These reflections reveal every high and low spot in the metal — dents that would be nearly invisible to the naked eye become clearly visible as distortions in the light lines. The technician reads these reflections constantly, adjusting pressure and tool angle until the lines run perfectly straight again.

Better than conventional body work — in almost every way.

Traditional body shop repairs involve sanding the damaged area, applying body filler, priming, and repainting. While that process has its place, it comes with real trade-offs. PDR avoids all of them.

Paintless Dent Repair

Factory paint is fully preserved — no color matching, no overspray
Maintains your vehicle's original resale value
Typically a fraction of the cost of body shop repair
Same-day or next-day turnaround in most cases
No paint drying time — drive away when it's done
Environmentally friendly — no chemicals or paint fumes

Conventional Body Work

Paint is sanded away and repainted — color matching is imperfect
Repainted panels can lower resale value and trigger Carfax flags
Significantly more expensive — labor, materials, paint, primer
Vehicles can be in the shop for days or weeks
Requires a rental car or alternative transportation
Chemicals, solvents, and paint involved throughout

We'll always be honest with you.

PDR is a remarkable process, but it isn't a solution for every situation. There are cases where conventional body work is genuinely the better option — and we'll tell you that upfront rather than attempt a repair that won't give you the result you deserve.

Cracked or chipped paint

PDR works by manipulating the metal beneath the paint. If the paint is already cracked or chipped, the repair process can worsen those cracks — and in Michigan especially, that's a serious problem.

Severe stretching

Very large or deep impacts can stretch the metal beyond what PDR tools can fully recover. In these cases, a panel replacement or body work may be the more honest recommendation.

Inaccessible locations

Some dents are located where there's simply no way to access the back of the panel with PDR tools — certain body lines, structural areas, or reinforced sections.

Previous body filler

If a panel has already been repaired with body filler, PDR tools can't work through it effectively. Prior repairs need to be disclosed so we can assess the panel properly.

Michigan drivers: check your paint before you call.

This is especially important in Michigan. Our roads are heavily salted throughout the winter — and salt is corrosive. If your paint is cracked or chipped around a dent, moisture and road salt can work their way under the paint and begin rusting the metal from the inside out. By the time rust becomes visible on the surface, significant damage has often already occurred underneath.

Before reaching out for a quote, take a close look at the damaged area in good lighting. Run your finger gently around the edges of the dent. If you see or feel cracking, flaking, or chipping in the paint — even minor — make sure to mention it when you contact us. We'll inspect it carefully and give you an honest assessment of whether PDR is still an option, or whether the area needs to be addressed differently to prevent rust from taking hold.

We'd rather tell you the truth upfront than take your money for a repair that won't hold up to a Michigan winter.

Common questions.

Most repairs are completed the same day. Larger hail damage jobs may take longer depending on the number of dents — we'll give you a time estimate when you book.
PDR works on most dents where the paint is intact. Very large impacts, stretched metal, or dents in areas we can't access with our tools may not be good candidates. We'll always tell you upfront if that's the case.
No — that's the biggest advantage of PDR. Your factory paint stays completely untouched, which means your vehicle's resale value and Carfax history are unaffected.
